Der Vorgarten ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt, das mit der freundlichen Erlaubnis der Grundstücksbesitzer entstanden ist. Finanzielle Unterstützung kam in den ersten Jahren von einigen Mitbewohnern sowie vom großzügigen Inhaber der kieferorthopädischen Praxis. Eine große Menge von Komposterde war der Beitrag von den Nachbarn im Blauen Haus. Heute wird das Projekt durch Spenden fortgesetzt.
Was einmal ein ungepflegter Streifen von dem Wohnhaus war, ist heute ein freudenspendender Vorgarten. Ich kümmere mich seit Jahren ehrenamtlich um diesen blühenden Lebensraum. Jedes Beet wurde selbst angelegt, jede Pflanze eigenhändig gesetzt. Das kostet Zeit – und manchmal auch Geld.

The front garden is a community project that came about with the kind permission of the property owners. In the early years, financial support came from several fellow residents and from the generous owner of the orthodontic practice. A large quantity of compost soil was contributed by the neighbors in the Blue House. Today the ongoing project is made possible through donations.
What was once a neglected strip in front of the building is today a joyful front garden. I have been tending this flourishing green space voluntarily for years. Every bed was laid out by hand, every plant set personally. It takes time — and sometimes money.

Neben Auftritten als Sänger und Schauspieler (www.gftakis.de) erforsche ich als Künstler Zwischenräume aus der Perspective von Gap Art: Wie entsteht Fülle aus Leere? Was ist die innewohnende Dynamik von Stille? Eine Performance im Rahmen der Ausstellung “Into The Void” am IKOB–Museum für Zeitgenössische Kunst in Belgien trug den Titel “The W(hole) Story.” Zu sehen im virtuellen Studio 15 an der Kunsthalle Darmstadt sind ein Video und Photos unter “Gap Art: Metamorphosis in Emptiness.”
Die Gestaltung des Vorgartens ist in diesem Kontext zu verstehen. Im von Beton umzingelten Zwischenraum entsteht eine florierende Insel der Natur. Schon das geometrische Muster soll eine Harmonie zwischen den Beeten herstellen, ein Gefühl von Ruhe vermitteln. Dann im Frühjahr gebiert diese fruchtbare Stille ein Zusammenspiel von farbigen Blüten, deren ständige Variationen einer musikalischen Entwicklung ähneln.
Diese Musik der sich entfaltenden Natur habe ich auch versucht, in einem Chorstück zum Ausdruck zu bringen. “Sylvan Song” wurde vom Faculty, Parents and Friends Choir der John F. Kennedy School in Berlin an der Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche im Jahr 2025 uraufgeführt. Sänger sammeln sich auf einer Waldwiese und besingen die verwandelnde Kraft der Musik, die in der mysteriösen Stille inmitten der Bäume beheimatet ist.
Ich hoffe, dass Sie beim Innehalten und Betrachten des Gartens auch das wohltuende Schweigen der Stauden und Sträucher hören und im Kontakt mit dem sich ausbreitenden Frieden kommen, der im Wesen der Natur sowie im Menschenherz tief verwurzelt ist.
In addition to my work as a singer and actor (www.gftakis.de), as an artist I explore intermediate spaces from the perspective of Gap Art: How does abundance emerge from emptiness? What is the inherent dynamic of silence? A performance presented as part of the exhibition “Into The Void” at the IKOB–Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgium was titled “The W(hole) Story.” A video and photos can be viewed in the virtual Studio 15 at the Kunsthalle Darmstadt under “Gap Art: Metamorphosis in Emptiness.”
The design of the front garden should be understood in this context. In the space surrounded by concrete, a flourishing island of nature emerges. The geometric pattern alone is intended to create a harmony between the flower beds, to convey a sense of calm. Then, in the spring, this fertile stillness gives birth to an interplay of colorful blossoms, whose constant variations resemble a musical progression.
I have also attempted to express this music of unfolding nature in a choral piece. “Sylvan Song” was premiered by the Faculty, Parents and Friends Choir of the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin at the Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche in 2025. Singers gather in a forest glade and sing of the transformative power of music, which is at home in the mysterious silence amidst the trees.
I hope that as you pause and contemplate the garden, you too will hear the soothing silence of the perennials and shrubs and come into contact with the spreading peace that is deeply rooted in the innermost being of nature as well as in the human heart.
